Building Your Agents

Your team can leverage Orbit's platform foundation to build domain-specific agents tailored to your business needs.
Using starter kits, toolkits, and proven frameworks, you can create agents that automate workflows, connect to your systems, process your data, or provide AI-powered capabilities specific to your domain expertise.

Your Agent Development Process

1. Start with Your Domain Expertise

  • Define what business problem your agent will solve (e.g., customer analysis, inventory optimization, compliance reporting).
  • Identify which business processes your agent can automate or enhance.
  • Choose from available starter kits and templates that match your use case.
  • Plan integration with your existing systems and data sources.

2. Build with Orbit's Toolkits

  • Start with a starter kit that matches your domain (analytics, automation, integration, etc.).
  • Customize using your preferred technology stack (Node, Python, etc.).
  • Follow Orbit's standards and protocols for compatibility.
  • Implement required endpoints:
    • invoke endpoint (/invoke) for your business logic
    • health check (/health) for monitoring
    • capabilities definition for integration
  • Test your agent using Orbit's development tools and preview environments.

3. Package Your Solution

  • Document your agent's:
    • Business purpose and use cases
    • Configuration requirements (API keys, data sources, etc.)
    • User instructions and best practices
    • Integration points and dependencies
  • Include ai-tools.json with schema compliance and security specifications
  • Provide clear setup instructions for other teams who might use your agent

4. Share with the Community

  • Submit your completed agent to the Orbit Marketplace for other BUs to discover and use.
  • Your submission will be reviewed for:
    • Security compliance (authentication, rate limits, security protocols)
    • Standard adherence (Orbit protocols, schema compliance)
    • Quality assurance (documentation completeness, functionality)
  • Once approved, your agent becomes available for other Business Units to adopt and customize for their needs.

5. Iterate and Improve

  • Monitor your agent's performance and gather user feedback from your team.
  • Keep dependencies current and address security updates promptly.
  • Release new versions with improved functionality based on real-world usage.
  • Share learnings with the community and consider contributing improvements to starter kits.
